About Us
Organic Inform is an initiative funded by Defra and The Organic Research Centre, Elm Farm. As a one-stop-shop, its mission is to analyse and add value to the flow of information about organic farming to producers and other interested bodies. It will build on and draw together the dissemination programmes of a range of organisations in the organic sector, especially those projects or initiatives receiving public funding. Organic Inform is hosted and run by The Organic Research Centre but works through a range of partners and collaborators.
Whilst the website lies at the heart of the service, producers will also receive a regular newsletter, likely to be paper based, interspersed with more regular e-mails to notify them of updates. Seminars and workshops in conjunction with partners and collaborators, telephone alerts, text messaging and podcasts will be explored in the future.
The strength of the service lies in its independence and research reliability. Information will include:
- Market data and insights
- Quality issues
- Research and development
- The regulatory environment
- Policy
Information and data to fuel the service will be sourced firstly from The Organic Research Centre’s own material and contacts; from partners and collaborators (in particular to add dissemination value to Defra funded projects and initiatives); from both commercial and not-for-profit organisations who wish to disseminate information and the wider public domain both at home and abroad. Organic Inform will digest, synthesise and analyse information, but will reference the original source and signpost accordingly for those who want details in full. Our partners are:
